The book I read to research this post was DIY Build Your Own PC for Dummies by Mark L Chambers which is an excellent book if a little dated & I bought it from amazon.

This post is about adding lights & gauges to your pc & while they don’t serve any practical purpose they make it more attractive. For a start there is lighted fans which are not that much more than a standard fan. Then there are flexible rope lights, the best ones change colour. Then there are cold cathode or uv lights which are rigid & fit along the length of the case. These are brighter than the other types of lighting. Then there are lighted feet. They’re a bit harder to find in the shops.

Temperature gauges often fit in your 3.5 in bay & will report things like the temperature of your cpu & gpu. I saw a really trendy one where the display was a flip up one. You often have fan controls & sometimes you have things like a USB 2.0 terminal.
