This is a computing and technology blog. The book I read to research this post was Solar Power Your Home for Dummies by Rik De Gunther which is an excellent book which I bought from amazon. One thing a lot of people who are thinking of solar power don’t take into account is that energy prices keep going up often faster than inflation. If you take into account these price increases the solar power is actually paying for itself faster than you think. Another thing mentioned in this book is that a lot of people think nothing of getting a new kitchen but solar power which is a similiar price adds more value to your property. Even if you think solar panelling is too expensive there are other things you can do like have solar lights in your garden which charge during the day and then provide light at night and are quite cheap. If you have an outdoor swimming pool you can use solar covers which use the suns light to warm the pool. If you have a log cabin or a caravan you can have a solar powered 9 volt electricity supply which is much easier to set up than a standard electricity supply especially if it’s somewhere remote. It’s worth looking in the camping and boating catalogues for 9 v electrical items.
